Hawaii

For twenty years Scott and I have talked about going to Hawaii together.  So, for our 20th wedding anniversary we went to Hawaii together!  These first two pictures are of us floating on the edge of the infinity pool at the hotel in Waikiki.  Looks tough, huh?

We had so much fun there. We snorkeled in Hanauma Bay and drove the island seeing the other beaches.  Scott made good friends with a few turtles on this trip, and one shark!

This a beautiful view of the bay.
We enjoyed the Polynesian Cultural Center, where Scott discovered his inner Maori warrior!  We had fun running into some friends that Scott's brother knew on his mission in New Zealand.
We spent the second half of our trip on Maui.  It was absolutely beautiful.  One of the perfect days of our lives was spent on this island.  We woke up really early and drove to the top of Mount Haleakala and watched the sunrise. We then drove down the mountain and spent the day driving the Road to Hana, where waterfalls like this are scattered along the way, alternating with beautiful cliffs and flowers.
Part of what made this day so fun was the convertible mustang that we had rented on the island.  It was the perfect sight-seeing mobile.  This, along with the dramamine I had taken that morning, along with the wonderful, fun and romantic company of Scott, made for a perfect day!
Driving home in the evening along the back side of the island with the top down and the heater on, enjoying a few sprinkles of rain will always be a treasured memory.  And, of course, it doesn't hurt that this is what we came home to. :)
It took me almost 40 years to get to Hawaii, and it was worth the wait.  Thanks to Scott for making it happen for us!  And thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Hart for coming to stay with the boys so I could have peace of mind while I was there.  Scott, of course, made his cute SK symbol he always draws on beaches.  Happy 20th and here's to many more!
Aloha!
